Yoko Ono's chauffeur in extortion drama
December 15, 2006 Edition 1
NEW YORK: A chauffeur for Yoko Ono was arrested for trying to extort $2 million from her by threatening to circulate embarrassing photos of her, said police, who claimed he also spoke of killing her and her son Sean Lennon.
Manhattan detectives arrested Koral Karsan on Long Island earlier this week after Ono reported the plot to police.
Karsan, while being led into a police station, denied trying to extort Ono. "No," he said, "No way."
The security staff for Ono, the widow of John Lennon, said that Turkish-born Karsan, who had worked for her for six years, told her in a rambling note that he had secretly photographed her and made audiotapes of her ( in the car) in private moments.
Police said Karsan dropped off the note on December 8, the 26th anniversary of Lennon's slaying. - Sapa-AP
