Boat with tourists capsizes in Philippines

Comment on this story

Ten foreign tourists, mostly British nationals, were rescued from a boat that capsized off the Philippines' popular resort island of Boracay, the Office of Civil Defence said on Friday.

The group's Filipino guide and one member of the boat's crew were also rescued, but the boat's captain was still missing, according to the disaster relief agency.

The boat was carrying eight tourists from Britain, one from New Zealand and one from Japan when the accident occurred Thursday afternoon off Boracay island, famous for its white-sand beaches. - Sapa-dpa
