British nationals plead guilty in drugs case

Two British brothers and a South African man accused of being part of an international drug smuggling syndicate pleaded guilty in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
British brothers Paul and John Beasley and South African Gopal Ganesh were arrested with another British national, Paul Bromley, and two other South Africans, Perumal Naidoo and Morgan Athan Nadesen, after the seizing of drugs with an estimated street value of R600 million in Durban and the United Kingdom.
Giving reasons why they got involved in the drug syndicate, the Beasley brothers told the court that they had been persuaded by Bromley to travel to South Africa under the false pretence that they would be given work.
The trial of Bromley, Naidoo and Athan is expected to begin on February 9.
They were all denied bail in November. - Sapa
